Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Always wear: Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and sturdy boots.
  2. Clear work area of obstacles and ensure secure footing.
  3. Never operate with one hand or above shoulder height.
  4. Keep bystanders at least 15 feet away.
  5. Engage chain brake when not actively cutting.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous. Failure to follow safety rules can result in serious injury or death. Keep hands away from moving chain.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach guide bar: Loosen bar nuts, position bar over studs, align chain tensioning pin.
  2. Install chain: Place chain over bar sprocket, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top.
  3. Tension chain: Adjust tension screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  4. Mix fuel: Use 50:1 gasoline to 2-stroke oil ratio (recommended brand).
  5. Fill tanks: Add fuel mix to fuel tank and bar/chain oil to oil tank.

CAUTION! Use only recommended oils. Do not over-tighten chain.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on top and rear handle.

Front Handle: Chain brake lever, throttle trigger lockout, choke control. Rear Handle: Throttle trigger, stop switch, primer bulb (if equipped). Side Panel: Master control lever (combines choke/start/run), decompression valve.

Chain Brake: Manual activation via front hand guard; inertia-activated during kickback. Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed to engage throttle. Stop Switch: Moves to STOP position to kill engine.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start Procedure:

  1. Place saw on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing hand guard forward.
  3. Set master control lever to choke position (full down).
  4. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  5. Pull starter cord briskly 2-3 times until engine fires.
  6. Move master control to half-throttle position.
  7. Pull starter cord until engine starts.
  8. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.
  9. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Stopping: Release throttle, move stop switch to STOP.

Operation Guidelines

Proper cutting techniques ensure safety and efficiency.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path, make notch cut, then back cut leaving hinge.
  2. Limbing: Stand on opposite side of log, cut from top down.
  3. Bucking: Support log, cut from top, avoid cutting into ground.
  4. Use full throttle during cuts; let chain do the work.
  5. Maintain secure grip with both hands, thumbs wrapped.

Tip: Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned. Check oil flow frequently.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Daily maintenance ensures optimal performance.

  1. Air Filter: Clean daily with compressed air; replace when damaged.
  2. Spark Plug: Check gap (0.020"), clean or replace annually.
  3. Chain Oil System: Verify oil flow by running saw over light surface.
  4. Bar: Clean groove and oil holes; flip bar weekly for even wear.
  5. Fuel Filter: Replace every 3 months or as needed.

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug before maintenance.

Chain Sharpening

Sharp chain reduces effort and kickback risk.

  1. Secure bar in vise.
  2. Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 7/32" or 5/32").
  3. File each cutter at 30° angle, maintaining equal length on all cutters.
  4. File depth gauges with flat file to proper clearance (0.025").
  5. Check chain tension after sharpening.

WARNING! Wear gloves when handling chain.

Storage

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues.

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops.
  2. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Store in dry place, covered, away from ignition sources.
  5. For long-term storage, fog engine with 2-stroke oil.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days.
