Safety Instructions
Read all instructions before use. Wear appropriate PPE.
- Always wear: Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and sturdy boots.
- Clear work area of obstacles and ensure secure footing.
- Never operate with one hand or above shoulder height.
- Keep bystanders at least 15 feet away.
- Engage chain brake when not actively cutting.
WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous. Failure to follow safety rules can result in serious injury or death. Keep hands away from moving chain.
Assembly & Preparation
Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.
- Attach guide bar: Loosen bar nuts, position bar over studs, align chain tensioning pin.
- Install chain: Place chain over bar sprocket, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top.
- Tension chain: Adjust tension screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
- Mix fuel: Use 50:1 gasoline to 2-stroke oil ratio (recommended brand).
- Fill tanks: Add fuel mix to fuel tank and bar/chain oil to oil tank.
CAUTION! Use only recommended oils. Do not over-tighten chain.

Controls and Components
Main controls located on top and rear handle.
Front Handle: Chain brake lever, throttle trigger lockout, choke control. Rear Handle: Throttle trigger, stop switch, primer bulb (if equipped). Side Panel: Master control lever (combines choke/start/run), decompression valve.
Chain Brake: Manual activation via front hand guard; inertia-activated during kickback. Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed to engage throttle. Stop Switch: Moves to STOP position to kill engine.
Starting & Stopping
Cold Start Procedure:
- Place saw on flat ground, clear of debris.
- Engage chain brake by pushing hand guard forward.
- Set master control lever to choke position (full down).
- Press decompression valve (if equipped).
- Pull starter cord briskly 2-3 times until engine fires.
- Move master control to half-throttle position.
- Pull starter cord until engine starts.
- Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.
- Disengage chain brake before cutting.
Stopping: Release throttle, move stop switch to STOP.
Operation Guidelines
Proper cutting techniques ensure safety and efficiency.
- Felling: Plan escape path, make notch cut, then back cut leaving hinge.
- Limbing: Stand on opposite side of log, cut from top down.
- Bucking: Support log, cut from top, avoid cutting into ground.
- Use full throttle during cuts; let chain do the work.
- Maintain secure grip with both hands, thumbs wrapped.
Tip: Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned. Check oil flow frequently.
Maintenance & Cleaning
Daily maintenance ensures optimal performance.
- Air Filter: Clean daily with compressed air; replace when damaged.
- Spark Plug: Check gap (0.020"), clean or replace annually.
- Chain Oil System: Verify oil flow by running saw over light surface.
- Bar: Clean groove and oil holes; flip bar weekly for even wear.
- Fuel Filter: Replace every 3 months or as needed.
CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug before maintenance.
Chain Sharpening
Sharp chain reduces effort and kickback risk.
- Secure bar in vise.
- Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 7/32" or 5/32").
- File each cutter at 30° angle, maintaining equal length on all cutters.
- File depth gauges with flat file to proper clearance (0.025").
- Check chain tension after sharpening.
WARNING! Wear gloves when handling chain.
Storage
Proper storage prevents fuel system issues.
- Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops.
- Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil.
- Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
- Store in dry place, covered, away from ignition sources.
- For long-term storage, fog engine with 2-stroke oil.
CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
| Engine won't start | No spark/flooded/old fuel | Check spark plug; use fresh fuel mix; avoid over-choking. |
| Engine runs poorly | Clogged air filter/carb issues | Clean air filter; adjust carburetor (H/L screws). |
| Chain doesn't oil | Empty oil tank/clogged holes | Fill tank; clean oil passages; check pump. |
| Chain comes off bar | Loose chain/worn bar | Tension chain properly; replace worn bar/sprocket. |
| Excessive vibration | Loose components/unbalanced chain | Tighten all bolts; balance chain sharpening. |
