Safety Information

Read and understand all safety instructions before operation.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw chaps, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hard hat.
  2. Work area safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Maintain secure footing.
  3. Kickback prevention: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip. Use reduced-kickback chain.
  4. Fuel safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use approved fuel mix.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never operate when tired or under influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all components. Assembly requires basic tools.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Loosen bar nuts, position bar on studs, fit chain over sprocket and bar groove, tension properly.
  2. Fill fuel tank: Use fresh gasoline mixed with 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio (recommended).
  3. Fill chain oil tank: Use proper bar and chain oil for temperature conditions.
  4. Check chain tension: Chain should snap back when pulled from bar.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is installed with cutting teeth facing forward. Incorrect installation can cause immediate kickback.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on top and rear handle. Front Handle: Contains throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and hand guard with chain brake. Rear Handle: Contains start/stop switch, choke control, decompression valve, and primer bulb.

Additional Components: Chain catcher, Spark arrestor muffler, Side-mounted chain tensioner, Front hand guard, Rear anti-vibration mounts, Fuel and oil tank caps with dipsticks.

Chain Brake: Manual activation via front hand guard or inertial activation during kickback. Test before each use.

Starting & Stopping Procedure

Cold Start Procedure:

  1. Place saw on clear, flat ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Set choke to full position. Pull starter cord 2-3 times until engine 'pops'.
  4. Move choke to half position. Pull starter cord until engine starts.
  5. Briefly apply throttle to disengage choke. Allow 30-second warm-up.

Stopping: Release throttle, allow engine to idle, push stop switch to OFF position.

Emergency Stop: Activate chain brake and push stop switch simultaneously.

Operating Instructions

Proper cutting techniques ensure safety and efficiency.

  1. Basic stance: Feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
  2. Grip: Left hand on front handle, right hand on rear handle, thumbs wrapped.
  3. Bucking: Cut fallen logs from top side. Support log properly.
  4. Limbing: Work from trunk outward. Beware of spring-loaded branches.
  5. Felling: Notch face cut (1/3 diameter), back cut (2" above notch), use wedges.
  6. Kickback zone: Avoid contact with upper quadrant of bar tip.

WARNING! Never operate above shoulder height. Do not cut with one hand. Watch for binding.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
DailyCheck chain tension, sharpness; Clean air filter; Check fuel/oil levels
WeeklyClean cooling fins; Check spark plug; Clean chain brake components
MonthlyClean fuel filter; Check anti-vibration mounts; Lubricate throttle linkage
SeasonallyReplace spark plug; Clean muffler/spark arrestor; Check clutch drum/sprocket
AnnuallyProfessional inspection of crankshaft seals, piston/cylinder, carburetor adjustment

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance is critical for performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 5.5mm). Maintain 30° cutting angle, 10° top plate angle. File all cutters equally.
  2. Depth gauge: Maintain 0.025" (0.65mm) below cutting tooth. Use depth gauge tool.
  3. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely. Adjust when cold. Re-check after warm-up.
  4. Rotation: Flip bar regularly for even wear.

CAUTION! Always wear heavy gloves when handling chain. A dull chain increases kickback risk.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Drain fuel tank and run carburetor dry, OR add fuel stabilizer to full tank.
  2. Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil, store separately.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter area.
  4. Store in dry, cool place, protected from dust and moisture.

Long-term storage: Remove spark plug, add teaspoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly to distribute.
