Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear proper safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Chain Brake: Test before each use. Engage when carrying or if kickback occurs.
  4. Fuel Safety: Mix fuel outdoors. Use approved gasoline/oil mixture. Store in approved container.

WARNING! Kickback can cause severe injury. Keep proper grip, maintain chain sharpness, and avoid contact with tip of guide bar.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on mounting studs. Loop chain over sprocket and onto bar groove. Adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Use fresh fuel mix (50:1 gasoline to 2-stroke oil). Do not use old or stale gasoline.
  3. Fill Chain Oil Tank: Use approved bar and chain oil. Do not use waste oil.
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and chain brake function properly.

CAUTION! Tighten all fasteners securely. Check for fuel/oil leaks before starting.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main components: Front handle with chain brake, rear handle with throttle trigger, throttle lockout, choke lever, primer bulb, decompression valve, ON/OFF switch.

Controls: Throttle Trigger (controls engine speed), Throttle Lockout (must be depressed to engage throttle), Choke Lever (for cold starts), Primer Bulb (primes fuel system), Decompression Valve (reduces starting effort), Chain Brake Lever (manual engagement), Hand Guard (activates chain brake on kickback).

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, spark plug, chain tensioning screw, oil filler cap, fuel filler cap.

Starting Procedure

Follow steps carefully for cold and warm starts.

  1. Place chainsaw on flat, clear ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Set ON/OFF switch to ON position.
  3. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  4. Set choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
  5. Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  6. Pull starter rope briskly until engine fires (1-3 pulls).
  7. Move choke lever to HALF CHOKE position.
  8. Pull starter rope again until engine starts.
  9. Allow engine to warm up at idle for 30 seconds.
  10. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Tip: For warm restart, use HALF CHOKE or NO CHOKE position.

Operation Guidelines

Proper technique ensures safety and efficiency.

  1. Grip: Hold front handle with left hand, rear handle with right hand. Thumbs wrapped underneath.
  2. Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
  3. Starting Cut: Apply slight pressure to top of guide bar. Let chain do the work.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Never cut with tip of bar. Be aware of pinch points.
  5. Buckling: Use wedges for large logs. Cut from top down on tension side.
  6. Limbing: Work from trunk outward. Keep saw stable.
  7. Carrying: Engage chain brake when moving more than few steps.

WARNING! Never operate above shoulder height. Do not operate when fatigued.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension, chain sharpness, fuel/oil levels, chain brake function
Every 5 hoursClean air filter, check spark plug
Every 10 hoursClean cooling fins, check all fasteners
Every 20 hoursClean spark arrestor screen, replace fuel filter
Every 50 hoursClean carburetor, replace spark plug
SeasonallyDrain fuel for storage, inspect/replace guide bar, replace chain

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance is critical for performance and safety.

  1. Chain Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Adjust tensioning screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Tighten bar nuts while lifting bar tip.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (5/32" for 0.325 pitch). File at 30° angle. Maintain equal tooth length.
  3. Depth Gauges: File depth gauges with flat file to maintain proper height (0.025" below cutter).
  4. Inspection: Check for damaged, cracked, or worn cutters. Replace chain if damaged.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure chain brake is engaged during maintenance.

Storage Instructions

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Drain fuel tank completely or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Run engine until it stops to clear carburetor of fuel.
  3. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil. Clean guide bar groove.
  4. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  5. Store in dry, cool place, protected from dust and moisture.
  6. Cover with breathable cloth; avoid plastic bags that trap moisture.

Tip: For long-term storage, remove spark plug and add teaspoon of oil to cylinder. Pull starter slowly to distribute.
