Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Loosen bar nuts, position bar, loop chain over sprocket and bar, adjust tension, tighten nuts.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Use fresh gasoline mixed with 2-stroke oil at ratio specified in manual (e.g., 50:1).
  3. Fill Oil Tank: Use quality bar & chain oil.
  4. Check Chain Tension: Ensure proper tension (chain should snap back when pulled from bar).

WARNING! Always wear cut-resistant gloves during assembly. Ensure chain is installed with cutting teeth facing forward on top of bar.

Safety Information

Read and understand all safety instructions before operation.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe boots, and chainsaw chaps.
  2. Clear Work Area: Ensure no bystanders, pets, or obstacles within 15 feet.
  3. Secure Workpiece: Never cut holding wood in hand; use sawhorses or clamps.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone (upper tip of bar); maintain firm grip.
  5. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources; allow engine to cool.

CAUTION! Kickback can cause severe injury. Always hold saw with both hands, right hand on rear handle, left on front.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Throttle Trigger, Throttle Lockout, Choke, Primer Bulb, Stop Switch, Chain Brake Lever, Decompression Valve (if equipped).

Front Handle: Contains throttle trigger, lockout, and chain brake lever. Rear Handle: Houses stop switch and starter grip. Top Cover: Covers spark plug, air filter, and fuel/oil caps.

Operation: Set choke for cold start, press primer bulb 5-6 times, pull starter cord until engine fires, move choke to run position, restart. Engage throttle to increase chain speed.

Operation

Starting & Running Procedures.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Ensure chain tension correct, fuel/oil filled, area clear, PPE on.
  2. Cold Start: Set choke to FULL, press primer bulb, pull starter cord sharply until engine pops, set choke to HALF, pull again until starts, then set to RUN.
  3. Warm Start: Choke at RUN, pull starter.
  4. Cutting: Let engine warm up. Hold saw firmly, engage throttle smoothly, let chain do the work; avoid forcing.
  5. Stopping: Release throttle, allow chain to stop, press stop switch to OFF.

Tip: Never operate above shoulder height. Plan escape path from falling wood.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures performance and safety.

  1. Daily: Check chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Clean air filter. Inspect for loose parts.
  2. Weekly: Clean spark arrestor screen (if equipped). Check fuel filter.
  3. Monthly: Replace spark plug (NGK BPMR7A or equivalent). Clean cooling fins.
  4. As Needed: Replace bar & chain, fuel lines, air filter.

WARNING! Perform maintenance only when engine is off and cool. Disconnect spark plug wire for safety.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Sharp chain reduces kickback risk and improves cutting.

  1. Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts, adjust tensioning screw until chain fits snug against bar (can be pulled around by hand but snaps back), tighten nuts.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (e.g., 5/32" for .325"). File each cutter at specified angle (typically 30°), maintaining equal length on all cutters. File depth gauges with flat file.

CAUTION! Wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure proper tension to prevent derailment.

Storage

Prepare chainsaw for extended storage.

  1. Drain fuel tank or add fuel stabilizer and run engine 2 minutes to circulate.
  2. Run engine until it stops to empty carburetor.
  3. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil. Clean entire saw.
  4. Store in dry, cool place, away from ignition sources.

CAUTION! Gasoline left in tank can degrade and damage fuel system. Always stabilize or drain.
