Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed boots, and chainsaw chaps.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, pets, and obstacles. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Chain Brake Test: Test chain brake before each use by engaging with wrist.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip).
  5. Two-Hand Operation: Always grip front and rear handles firmly during operation.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Keep hands away from chain at all times.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Bar & Chain: Place bar onto mounting studs, align chain with sprocket and bar groove, adjust tension.
  2. Install Battery: Insert compatible Greenworks 60V/80V battery into compartment until it clicks.
  3. Fill Oil Tank: Use Greenworks bar and chain oil. Fill to MAX line, replace cap securely.
  4. Check Chain Tension: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand.
  5. Test Safety Features: Verify chain brake engages and releases properly.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly tensioned. Loose chain can derail; overtightened chain can damage bar or motor.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Safety trigger lockout, trigger switch, chain brake lever, battery release button, oil cap, tensioning knob.

Front Handle: Contains trigger switch and safety lockout. Rear Handle: Houses battery compartment. Chain Brake Lever: Located forward of front handle; engage manually or via inertia. Battery Indicator: LEDs on battery show charge level. Oiler Adjustment: Screw near oil tank controls oil flow rate.

Operation Guide

Starting and using the chainsaw safely.

  1. Pre-Operation Check: Verify chain tension, oil level, battery charge, and chain sharpness.
  2. Starting: Press safety lockout, then squeeze trigger. Chain begins moving immediately.
  3. Cutting Technique: Let saw do the work; avoid forcing. Use full bar length when possible.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Do not cut with bar tip. Be aware of wood tension and binding.
  5. Stopping: Release trigger; chain stops. Engage chain brake for added safety when not cutting.
  6. Battery Monitoring: Watch battery indicator; replace when low to maintain power.

Tip: Plan cuts to avoid pinching bar. Use wedges for larger logs.

Chain Maintenance

Proper chain care ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch. File at recommended angle (usually 30°).
  2. Tensioning: Chain stretches with use. Adjust tension frequently when new, then as needed.
  3. Lubrication: Check oil level before each use. Adjust oiler for cutting conditions (more for hard/dry wood).
  4. Cleaning: Remove sawdust from bar groove, sprocket, and oil ports after use.
  5. Rotation: Flip bar periodically for even wear.
  6. Inspection: Check for damaged, cracked, or worn drive links; replace chain if needed.

WARNING! Always disconnect battery before performing any maintenance. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling chain.

Battery & Charging

Use only Greenworks 60V/80V batteries and charger.

  1. Charging: Insert battery into charger; LED indicates status (red=charging, green=full).
  2. Storage: Store battery at room temperature, 50% charge if not used for extended periods.
  3. Runtime: Varies by battery capacity and cutting conditions. 4.0Ah battery provides ~45 minutes of mixed cutting.
  4. Battery Care: Keep terminals clean; do not expose to water or extreme temperatures.

CAUTION! Do not use damaged batteries. Do not charge near flammable materials.

Storage & Care

Clean and store properly to extend tool life.

  1. Clean: Wipe exterior with dry cloth. Remove debris from air vents and oil ports.
  2. Empty Oil Tank: For long-term storage, empty oil tank to prevent leaks.
  3. Chain: Apply light oil to chain and bar to prevent rust.
  4. Battery Removal: Remove battery for storage.
  5. Location: Store in dry, locked location out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Do not use compressed air to clean; it can force debris into motor.
