Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before use. Failure to follow warnings can result in serious injury.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, sturdy boots, and chainsaw chaps or pants.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure secure footing. Do not operate in wet conditions.
  3. Kickback Zone: Be aware of the upper quadrant of the bar tip. Avoid contact with this area during cutting.
  4. Pre-Operation Check: Inspect chainsaw for damage, ensure chain is sharp and properly tensioned, and check oil level before each use.
  5. Two-Handed Operation: Always grip the chainsaw firmly with both hands.

WARNING! Kickback can cause severe injury. Always use proper grip and stance. Never operate above shoulder height or with one hand.

Assembly & Initial Setup

Unpack all components. Assembly requires attaching the guide bar and chain, and filling the oil reservoir.

  1. Attach Bar & Chain: Loosen bar nuts. Place the chain over the sprocket and onto the bar, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top. Align bar with adjustment pin. Tighten nuts finger-tight.
  2. Tension Chain: Use the tool-free tensioning dial to adjust until the chain snaps back when pulled from the bar. Fully tighten bar nuts.
  3. Fill Oil Reservoir: Use only high-quality bar and chain oil. Fill reservoir to the indicated line.
  4. Install Battery: Insert fully charged 80V battery until it clicks into place.

CAUTION! Ensure the chain brake is disengaged (pulled back toward the front handle) before starting. Always wear gloves when handling the chain.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on the rear handle and body.

Rear Handle: Trigger switch, Trigger Lockout (safety lever), Hand Guard.

Top/ Body: Chain Brake lever (front hand guard), Battery Release Button, Oil Filler Cap, Tool-Free Tensioning Dial, Battery Fuel Gauge LEDs.

Operation: Press and hold the trigger lockout, then squeeze the trigger to start the chain. Release the trigger to stop. Engage the chain brake by pushing the front hand guard forward.

Operation Guide

For felling, limbing, bucking, and pruning.

  1. Starting: Ensure chain brake is disengaged. Install charged battery. Hold saw firmly, press lockout and trigger.
  2. Basic Cutting: Let the chain do the work. Apply light downward pressure. Use the bumper spike for leverage when bucking.
  3. Kickback Prevention: Do not cut with the upper tip. Be aware of wood tension and binding. Always plan your cut and escape path.
  4. Automatic Oiling: The system oils continuously. Check oil level frequently and refill as needed.
  5. Stopping: Release the trigger. Engage the chain brake for safety when not actively cutting.

Tip: For longer battery life, use a steady, controlled cutting pace rather than forcing the saw.

Battery Charging & Care

Use only Greenwork 80V chargers and batteries.

  1. Charging: Insert battery into charger. LED will indicate charging (red) and complete (green).
  2. Storage: Store battery at room temperature. For long-term storage (>30 days), charge to 50-60%.
  3. Battery Gauge: Press the button on the battery to check remaining charge via LED indicators.
  4. Disposal: Do not dispose of in household trash. Recycle at an authorized battery recycling center.

WARNING! Do not expose battery to fire, water, or extreme temperatures. Do not use damaged batteries.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

Chain Sharpening: Use a round file matching the chain pitch. Maintain correct filing angle (typically 30°). File all cutters to the same length.

Chain Tensioning: Check tension frequently, especially when new. Chain should be snug against the bar but pull freely. Adjust using tensioning dial when saw is cool.

Bar Maintenance: Clean bar grooves. Flip the bar periodically for even wear. Inspect for wear or damage.

Oiling System: Ensure oil port on bar is clear. Use only recommended bar and chain oil.

Cleaning & Storage

Remove battery before cleaning. Use a brush or dry cloth to remove sawdust and debris from the body, air vents, and bar. Wipe down with a slightly damp cloth if necessary.

Storage: Store in a dry, locked location out of reach of children. Engage the chain brake. Remove battery for separate storage.

CAUTION! Never use water, solvents, or compressed air to clean the motor or electrical components.
