Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar on mounting studs, fit chain around sprocket and bar, adjust tension.
  2. Fill oil reservoir: Use only high-quality bar and chain oil.
  3. Mix fuel: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (minimum 89 octane) with 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio.
  4. Fill fuel tank: Use funnel to avoid spills.

WARNING! Never use automotive motor oil or dirty fuel. Ensure chain moves freely before starting.

Starting the Chainsaw

Follow these steps for cold and warm starts.

  1. Place on ground: Ensure chain is clear of objects.
  2. Engage chain brake: Push forward until click.
  3. Set choke: Full choke for cold start; half for warm.
  4. Press primer bulb: 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter cord: Firm, quick pulls until engine fires.
  6. Disengage choke: After engine starts, move choke to run position.
  7. Release chain brake: Pull back toward handle.

CAUTION! Never drop-start or start above waist height. Keep firm footing.

Operation Guidelines

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension, oil level, fuel level, air filter
Every 10 hoursClean air filter, check spark plug, inspect chain sharpness
Every 25 hoursReplace spark plug, clean cooling fins, check bar wear
Every 50 hoursReplace air filter, clean fuel filter, check carburetor adjustment
SeasonallyDrain fuel for storage, replace chain if worn, lubricate throttle linkage

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance is critical for safety and performance.

  1. Chain Tension: Adjust when chain sags from bar. Loosen bar nuts, adjust tension screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (5/32" for standard chain). File each cutter at 30° angle with equal strokes.
  3. Depth Gauges: File depth gauges to maintain proper height (0.025" below cutter).
  4. Bar Maintenance: Rotate bar regularly to ensure even wear; clean bar groove weekly.

Tip: Always wear gloves when handling chain. Replace chain when cutters are worn beyond repair.

Storage Instructions

Proper storage prevents fuel system damage and corrosion.

  1. Drain fuel tank: Run engine until it stops from fuel starvation.
  2. Drain oil reservoir: Empty bar oil tank.
  3. Clean thoroughly: Remove sawdust from air intake, cooling fins, and exterior.
  4. Remove chain: Clean and soak in oil; store separately.
  5. Store in dry place: Cover with breathable cloth; avoid plastic bags.

WARNING! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days. Use fuel stabilizer if necessary.
