Safety Information

Always wear proper PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.

  1. Clear work area of obstacles and bystanders.
  2. Inspect chainsaw before each use for damage or loose parts.
  3. Ensure chain brake is functioning properly.
  4. Maintain secure footing and balance at all times.
  5. Never operate above shoulder height or on a ladder.

WARNING! Chainsaw kickback can cause serious injury or death. Always grip firmly with both hands, maintain proper chain tension and sharpness, and use reduced-kickback chain.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Assembly requires attaching guide bar and chain, filling fluids, and adjusting tension.

  1. Attach guide bar: Remove side cover, position bar over studs, align chain sprocket.
  2. Install chain: Place chain over bar with cutting edges facing forward, engage drive links with sprocket.
  3. Adjust chain tension: Loosen nuts, turn tensioning screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  4. Fill fluids: Use fresh 50:1 fuel/oil mixture in fuel tank, fill bar and chain oil reservoir.
  5. Final check: Ensure all fasteners are tight, chain moves freely, and safety features function.

CAUTION! Use only recommended bar and chain oil. Never use waste oil or motor oil.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls: Throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, chain brake lever, stop switch, choke lever, decompression valve, primer bulb.

Components: Front handle with chain brake, rear handle with throttle, muffler, spark arrestor, air filter cover, side cover, chain tensioner, oil filler cap, fuel filler cap.

Safety Features: Chain brake (manual and inertia), throttle trigger lockout, right-hand guard, spark arrestor screen. Maintenance Points: Air filter, spark plug, fuel filter, chain catcher, bar studs.

Starting Procedure

Cold Start: Place on flat, clear surface. Engage chain brake. Set choke to full, press decompression valve, pump primer 5-6 times.

  1. Pull starter rope slowly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly.
  2. When engine fires, move choke to half position and pull again.
  3. Once running, squeeze throttle to disengage choke.
  4. Warm Start: No choke needed. Follow steps without choke engagement.

Tip: Never drop-start or start above waist height. Always engage chain brake before starting.

Operation Guidelines

Proper cutting techniques reduce fatigue and prevent kickback.

  1. Felling: Plan escape path, make notch cut, then back cut leaving hinge wood.
  2. Limbing: Work from trunk outward, support log off ground, cut from top side.
  3. Bucking: Support log fully, cut from top, avoid pinching chain.
  4. Always cut at full throttle, let chain do the work without forcing.
  5. Maintain proper chain lubrication: Check oil output regularly.
  6. Take breaks every hour to prevent fatigue-related errors.

WARNING! Beware of pinch points, spring poles, and widowmakers. Never cut alone.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily: Clean air filter, check chain tension and sharpness, inspect for loose fasteners. Weekly: Clean spark arrestor, check spark plug gap, clean cooling fins. Monthly: Replace fuel filter, clean carburetor air passage, inspect anti-vibration elements.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain brake function, bar oil level, general condition
Every 10 hoursClean air filter, check chain sharpness
Every 20 hoursClean spark arrestor, check spark plug
Every 50 hoursReplace fuel filter, clean carburetor
Every 100 hoursCheck cylinder compression, replace air filter

Chain Sharpening

Use round file (5/32 in / 4.0 mm) and filing guide. Maintain 30° cutting angle, 10° top plate angle.

  1. Secure bar in vise or use filing clamp.
  2. Place file guide over chain, align with cutter.
  3. File from inside out with smooth strokes.
  4. File all cutters on one side, then rotate saw to file other side.
  5. Check depth gauges with gauge tool; file down if too high.
  6. Clean chain with kerosene after sharpening.

CAUTION! Wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure even filing on all cutters.

Storage Guidelines

Long-term storage (over 30 days): Drain fuel tank and run carburetor dry. Remove spark plug, add 1 tsp oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly to distribute. Clean entire saw, apply oil to bar and chain. Store in dry place, covered.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods. Fuel deteriorates and damages carburetor components.
