Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar and chain: Place bar on mounting studs, align chain with sprocket, adjust tension.
  2. Install chain brake: Ensure brake handle moves freely between ON/OFF positions.
  3. Fill fuel tank: Mix 50:1 gasoline and 2-stroke oil (see Fuel section).
  4. Fill oil tank: Use bar and chain oil (not motor oil).
  5. Check controls: Verify throttle trigger, choke, and stop switch function properly.

WARNING! Always wear protective gear: gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.

Safety Instructions

Read manual completely before operation. Follow all safety guidelines.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and sturdy boots.
  2. Pre-operation check: Verify chain tension, brake function, fuel/oil levels, and loose parts.
  3. Clear work area: Remove tripping hazards; ensure no bystanders within 15 feet.
  4. Proper stance: Stand firmly with feet shoulder-width apart; never operate above shoulder height.
  5. Kickback prevention: Hold saw firmly with both hands; avoid tip contact; use reduced-kickback chain.

CAUTION! Never operate chainsaw when tired, ill, or under influence of drugs/alcohol.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls: Front handle with chain brake, rear handle with throttle trigger, choke lever, stop switch, decompression valve, and primer bulb.

Right side: Chain brake handle, throttle trigger lockout, throttle trigger. Left side: Choke lever, stop switch, decompression valve. Top: Fuel cap, oil cap, air filter cover. Rear: Starter grip.

Chain tension adjustment: Located on side cover; use combination wrench or scrench tool. Oil flow adjustment: Screw near oil tank (clockwise to decrease, counterclockwise to increase).

Fuel & Oil Requirements

Fuel: Use fresh unleaded gasoline (minimum 89 octane) mixed with high-quality 2-stroke engine oil at 50:1 ratio.

  1. Mix fuel: For 1 gallon gasoline, add 2.6 fl oz of 2-stroke oil. Shake well.
  2. Bar and chain oil: Use ISO viscosity grade 30 or equivalent; do not use waste oil.
  3. Storage: Use fuel stabilizer if storing over 30 days; empty tank before long-term storage.

Tip: Always mix fuel in approved container; never in chainsaw tank.

Starting & Operation

Starting procedure (cold engine):

  1. Place saw on flat ground; engage chain brake.
  2. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Move choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
  4. Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter rope briskly 2-3 times until engine "pops".
  6. Move choke to HALF CHOKE; pull starter until engine starts.
  7. Allow to warm up 30 seconds; squeeze throttle to disengage choke.

Cutting techniques: Use lower quadrant of bar for cutting; let chain do the work; avoid forcing saw.

WARNING! Always engage chain brake when moving between cuts or carrying saw.

Maintenance Schedule

Daily: Check chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. Clean air filter. Inspect for loose fasteners.

Weekly: Clean spark arrestor screen. Check spark plug condition and gap (0.020 inch). Clean cooling fins.

Monthly: Replace fuel filter. Clean carburetor air passage. Check anti-vibration elements.

Seasonally: Replace spark plug. Clean exhaust port. Inspect clutch and sprocket.

Chain Sharpening

Tools needed: Round file (5/32 inch), flat file, file guide, depth gauge tool.

  1. Secure bar: Clamp bar in vise or use filing clamp.
  2. File angle: Hold file at 30° angle to cutter; maintain consistent angle.
  3. File direction: Push file forward only; use equal strokes per cutter.
  4. Depth gauges: File depth gauges to 0.025 inch below cutter height.
  5. Check symmetry: Ensure left and right cutters are filed equally.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain; teeth are sharp.

Storage Guidelines

Long-term storage (over 30 days):

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops.
  2. Remove spark plug; add 1 teaspoon of 2-stroke oil through spark plug hole.
  3. Pull starter slowly 2-3 times to distribute oil.
  4. Clean entire saw; apply light oil to bar and chain.
  5. Store in dry, cool place away from children.

CAUTION! Never store chainsaw with fuel in tank; fuel deteriorates and can damage carburetor.
