Safety Information

Always wear proper safety equipment and follow safety procedures.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Pre-Operation Inspection: Check chain tension, sharpness, and all components before each use.
  3. Clear Work Area: Ensure no obstacles, bystanders, or animals within 15 feet.
  4. Proper Stance: Maintain secure footing with feet shoulder-width apart.

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw with one hand. Keep both hands on handles at all times. Do not operate above shoulder height.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and assemble components following these steps.

  1. Attach guide bar: Place bar on mounting studs, align chain with sprocket, install bar nuts finger-tight.
  2. Install chain: Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar, adjust tension.
  3. Add fuel/oil: Mix 50:1 gasoline with Echo Power Blend oil; fill separate oil reservoir with bar and chain oil.
  4. Check controls: Verify throttle trigger, choke, and chain brake function properly.

CAUTION! Always wear cut-resistant gloves when handling chain. Ensure chain is properly tensioned before operation.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on handles and body. Front Handle: Chain brake lever, throttle trigger lockout, throttle trigger. Rear Handle: Choke lever, primer bulb, stop switch, decompression valve.

Additional Components: Fuel tank cap, oil tank cap, spark plug, air filter cover, muffler, guide bar, chain tensioner, side cover nuts.

Operation: Set choke to COLD START position for cold engine, RUN position for warm engine. Engage chain brake by pushing forward; disengage by pulling back toward handle. Use decompression valve when starting cold engine.

Operation Instructions

Starting procedure and cutting techniques.

  1. Pre-start: Place on clear, level surface. Engage chain brake. Set choke to COLD START.
  2. Starting: Press decompression valve. Pull starter rope briskly until engine fires. Move choke to RUN. Pull starter rope again to start.
  3. Warm-up: Allow 30-60 seconds at idle before cutting.
  4. Cutting: Disengage chain brake. Apply light pressure; let chain do the work. Use proper cutting techniques for felling, limbing, and bucking.
  5. Shutdown: Release throttle, engage chain brake, press stop switch.

Tip: Maintain proper chain tension. Chain should snap back when pulled from guide bar but not bind.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalMaintenance Task
Daily/Before UseCheck chain tension and sharpness; inspect guide bar; check fuel/oil levels
Every 10 HoursClean air filter; check spark plug; clean cooling fins
Every 20 HoursClean spark arrestor screen; check all nuts and bolts
Every 50 HoursReplace fuel filter; clean carburetor; check anti-vibration mounts
Every 100 HoursReplace spark plug; decarbonize exhaust port; inspect clutch
SeasonallyDrain fuel system for storage; sharpen drive sprocket

Chain Sharpening

Proper chain sharpening ensures efficient cutting and reduces operator fatigue.

  1. Secure chainsaw: Use vise to hold guide bar securely.
  2. File size: Use 5/32-inch (4.0mm) round file for standard chain.
  3. Filing angle: Maintain 30-degree cutting angle; follow existing angle.
  4. File position: Keep file level; file each cutter equally.
  5. Depth gauges: Use depth gauge tool to maintain proper raker height.
  6. Check symmetry: Ensure all cutters are same length for straight cutting.

WARNING! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure chain is properly tensioned before sharpening.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Fuel system: Run engine until carburetor is dry or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Clean unit: Remove sawdust, dirt, and resin from all surfaces.
  3. Chain: Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil, store separately.
  4. Guide bar: Clean bar groove, flip bar for even wear, coat with oil.
  5. Storage location: Store in dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.

CAUTION! Never store chainsaw with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer. Store out of reach of children.
