Read all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, non-slip footwear, and close-fitting clothing.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure stable footing.
  3. Electrical Safety: Use a grounded outlet. Keep cord away from cutting area and sharp objects.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip of bar.

WARNING! Risk of serious injury or death. Never operate chainsaw while tired, ill, or under the influence. Always engage chain brake when not cutting.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach the Bar and Chain: Place bar onto mounting studs. Loop chain around bar with cutting teeth facing forward on top. Adjust tension.
  2. Fill Oil Reservoir: Use only bar and chain oil. Fill until visible in oil window.
  3. Check Chain Tension: Pull chain midway on top of bar; links should just contact bar. Adjust tensioning knob.

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Rear handle with trigger switch and lock-off button. Front handle with chain brake activation.

Components: Motor housing, Bar cover, Chain tensioning knob, Oil filler cap, Oil window, Chain brake lever, Hand guard.

Operation: Press lock-off button, then squeeze trigger to start. Release trigger to stop. If kickback occurs, hand guard will engage chain brake automatically. Manual brake activation by pushing hand guard forward.

Operation Instructions

Proper cutting techniques ensure safety and efficiency.

  1. Starting: Ensure chain brake is disengaged (pulled back). Press lock-off, squeeze trigger.
  2. Cutting: Let chain reach full speed before contacting wood. Use middle of bar; avoid tip.
  3. Limbing: Cut branches from bottom to top. Support limb being cut.
  4. Buckling (cutting logs): Support log off ground. Cut from top down, avoiding soil contact.
  5. Stopping: Release trigger. Engage chain brake when moving between cuts.

Tip: Do not force saw; let chain do the work. Clear chips from bar groove periodically.

Chain Maintenance

Regular chain care ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch. File each cutter at 30-degree angle. Maintain equal length on all cutters.
  2. Tensioning: Check tension frequently, especially when new. Chain should snap back when pulled from bar.
  3. Cleaning: Remove resin and debris from chain and bar groove with brush and recommended cleaner.
  4. Replacement: Replace chain when cutters are worn beyond repair or damaged. Use only Oregon 91PX series chain.

WARNING! Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance. Wear heavy gloves when handling chain.

Lubrication System

Automatic oiler delivers oil to bar and chain. Manual override available for heavy cutting.

Check oil level before each use. Refill with Earthwise bar and chain oil or equivalent. In cold weather, use winter-grade oil. If oil is not dispensing, check for clogged oil ports and clean with needle.

Storage & Care

Store in dry, secure location out of reach of children.

  1. Clean saw thoroughly, removing all wood chips and oil residue.
  2. Drain oil reservoir if storing for extended period.
  3. Loosen chain tension slightly to prolong bar life.
  4. Store with bar cover on.

CAUTION! Do not store outdoors or in damp areas. Keep away from heat sources.
