Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Always wear proper safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Prevention: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not cut with tip of bar.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors, away from ignition sources. Allow engine to cool.
  5. Chain Brake: Test chain brake before each use.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous power tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never operate when tired or under the influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar and Chain: Place bar over studs, loop chain around bar with cutting edges facing forward, adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Use fresh gasoline mixed with 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio (check manual for exact specification).
  3. Fill Chain Oil Tank: Use proper bar and chain oil. Do not use waste oil.
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lock, and chain brake function properly.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly tensioned - should snap back when pulled from bar. Loose chain can derail.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on top and rear handle. Front Handle: Chain brake lever, Throttle lockout. Rear Handle: Throttle trigger, Master control lever (choke/start/run).

Additional Components: Decompression valve, Fuel primer bulb, Chain tensioning knob, Front hand guard, Rear handle with anti-vibration mounts, Muffler with spark arrestor, Fuel and oil caps with retaining chains.

Operation Indicators: Chain brake status (engaged/disengaged), Fuel level window, Chain oil level indicator.

Starting the Chainsaw

Cold Start Procedure (with choke):

  1. Place saw on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing forward.
  3. Set master control lever to choke position (full up).
  4. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  5. Press fuel primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  6. Hold rear handle with right hand, place right foot through rear handle.
  7. Pull starter rope briskly 2-3 times until engine "pops".
  8. Move master control to half-throttle position.
  9. Pull starter rope until engine starts.
  10. Blip throttle to disengage choke. Allow 30-second warm-up.

Warm Start: Master control in run position, no choke needed.

Operating Procedures

Basic Cutting Techniques:

  1. Felling Trees: Plan escape path. Make notch cut, then back cut leaving hinge wood.
  2. Limbing: Work from trunk outward. Keep saw between you and branch being cut.
  3. Bucking: Support log properly. Cut from top, avoid pinching bar.
  4. Pruning: Cut small branches with pulling chain (bottom of bar).
  5. Plunge Cutting: For notching, use bar tip carefully to avoid kickback.

Proper Stance: Feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward. Grip handles firmly with thumbs wrapped around.

Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with upper quadrant of bar tip where kickback originates.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Daily Maintenance (after each use):

  1. Clean air filter: Remove, tap clean, or wash with soapy water if very dirty.
  2. Check chain tension: Adjust if loose.
  3. Clean saw body: Remove wood chips and debris from cooling fins, clutch area, and hand guards.
  4. Inspect chain for damage: Replace if teeth are broken or excessively worn.

Weekly Maintenance:

  1. Clean spark arrestor screen in muffler.
  2. Check spark plug condition and gap (0.025").
  3. Inspect anti-vibration elements for wear.
  4. Leverage bar: Flip bar to ensure even wear.

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance. Allow engine to cool completely.

Chain Sharpening & Replacement

Sharpening Procedure:

  1. Secure bar in vise or use filing guide.
  2. Use correct round file size (typically 5/32" for 3/8" chain).
  3. File at 30° angle, maintaining original cutter angle.
  4. File each cutter equally to maintain balance.
  5. Check depth gauges with depth gauge tool, file down if necessary.

Chain Replacement:

  1. Remove bar nuts with combination wrench.
  2. Remove clutch cover, old chain, and bar.
  3. Clean bar groove and oil holes.
  4. Install new chain with cutting edges facing forward on top of bar.
  5. Reinstall clutch cover, tension chain, tighten nuts.

Tip: Keep chain sharp - a dull chain requires more force, increases wear, and is more dangerous.

Storage Guidelines

Long-Term Storage (30+ days):

  1. Drain fuel tank completely or add fuel stabilizer.
  2. Run engine until carburetor is dry.
  3. Remove chain, clean, and soak in oil.
  4. Clean entire saw thoroughly.
  5. Store in dry place, protected from moisture.
  6. Cover bar and chain to prevent rust.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods without stabilizer. Old fuel can damage carburetor.
