Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear proper protective equipment.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Chain Brake Test: Test chain brake function before each use.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip).

WARNING! Never operate chainsaw with one hand. Always hold firmly with both hands. Do not operate above shoulder height.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all components. Assemble on clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach guide bar: Loosen bar nuts, position bar on studs, align chain with sprocket.
  2. Install chain: Place chain over bar with cutting teeth facing forward on top.
  3. Tension chain: Adjust tension screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  4. Fuel mixture: Use 50:1 gasoline to 2-stroke oil ratio (89 octane minimum).
  5. Fill tanks: Add fuel to fuel tank, bar/chain oil to oil reservoir.

CAUTION! Use only recommended 2-stroke oil. Never use straight gasoline or automotive oil.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main controls located on top and rear handle. Front Handle: Chain brake lever, throttle lockout. Rear Handle: Throttle trigger, stop switch, choke control.

Additional Components: Decompression valve, primer bulb (if equipped), oil pump adjustment screw, bar nut covers.

Chain Brake: Manual activation via front hand guard; inertia-activated during kickback. Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed before throttle can be engaged. Stop Switch: Moves to STOP position to kill engine. Choke Control: Three positions - RUN, START, FULL CHOKE.

Starting & Stopping Procedure

Cold Start Procedure (with choke):

  1. Place chainsaw on firm ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing hand guard forward.
  3. Move choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
  4. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  5. Pull starter rope briskly 2-3 times until engine fires.
  6. Move choke to START position.
  7. Pull starter rope until engine starts.
  8. Briefly blip throttle to disengage fast idle.

Warm Start: Use START position only, not FULL CHOKE.

Stopping: Release throttle, move stop switch to STOP position.

Operating Instructions

Proper cutting techniques for safety and efficiency.

  1. Basic Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
  2. Grip: Hold front handle with left hand, rear handle with right hand.
  3. Starting Cut: Let chain reach full speed before contacting wood.
  4. Buckling: Support log properly; cut from top down for supported logs.
  5. Limbing: Work from trunk outward; be aware of spring-loaded branches.
  6. Felling: Notch cut first (1/3 diameter), then back cut (2 inches above notch).
  7. Kickback Prevention: Never cut with bar tip; be aware of pinch points.

Tip: Maintain sharp chain for easier cutting and reduced operator fatigue.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalTask
Before each useCheck chain tension, test chain brake, inspect bar for wear
DailyClean air filter, check oiler function, clean cooling fins
WeeklyClean spark arrestor, inspect spark plug, check all fasteners
MonthlyClean fuel filter, inspect fuel lines, check anti-vibration elements
SeasonallyReplace spark plug, clean carburetor, inspect clutch and sprocket
AnnuallyProfessional service recommended

CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance is critical for safe operation.

  1. Chain Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts, adjust tension screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar. Retighten bar nuts.
  2. Sharpening Angle: Maintain 30° cutting angle with 10° top plate angle.
  3. File Size: Use 5/32" (4.0mm) round file for standard 3/8" pitch chain.
  4. Depth Gauges: File depth gauges to 0.025" (0.65mm) below cutter.
  5. Equal Teeth: Sharpen all teeth to equal length for straight cutting.

WARNING! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Chain is extremely sharp.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Short-term (under 30 days): Add fuel stabilizer to fuel tank, run engine 2 minutes.
  2. Long-term (over 30 days): Drain fuel tank and carburetor completely.
  3. Chain: Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil, store separately.
  4. Bar: Clean bar groove, flip bar over for even wear.
  5. General: Clean entire saw, store in dry place with bar cover installed.

CAUTION! Never store chainsaw with fuel in tank for extended periods. Fuel deteriorates and damages carburetor.
