Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear protective gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Pre-Operation Check: Inspect chainsaw for damage, ensure chain is sharp and properly tensioned, check fuel and oil levels.
  3. Operating Zone: Keep bystanders and pets at least 30 feet away.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands; be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip).

WARNING! Improper use can cause serious injury or death. Do not operate if tired or under the influence.

Assembly & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Bar and Chain: Place bar over studs, loop chain over sprocket and bar, adjust tension using tool-less knob.
  2. Fill Fuel: Use fresh 50:1 gas/oil mix (89 octane minimum). Fill fuel tank to indicated line.
  3. Fill Bar & Chain Oil: Use quality chainsaw bar oil. Fill reservoir to full mark.
  4. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, lockout, and chain brake function smoothly.

CAUTION! Fuel is highly flammable. Refuel outdoors, away from ignition sources, with engine off and cool.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Front handle with chain brake, rear handle with throttle trigger, throttle lockout, choke, primer bulb, stop switch, and decompression valve (if equipped).

Components: Muffler, spark plug, air filter, fuel cap, oil cap, chain tensioner knob, chain catcher, and hand guard.

Operation: Set choke for cold start, press primer bulb 5-6 times, pull starter cord. Use throttle lockout with throttle trigger for operation. Engage chain brake by pushing hand guard forward.

Operation

Starting Procedure (Cold Engine):

  1. Place saw on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Engage chain brake.
  3. Set choke to full position.
  4. Press primer bulb until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull starter cord sharply until engine fires (1-3 pulls).
  6. Move choke to half position, pull until engine starts.
  7. Allow to warm up at idle for 30 seconds, disengage chain brake.

Cutting Techniques: Use lower quadrant of bar for cutting. Let saw do the work; do not force. For felling, plan escape path, make notch cut, then felling cut.

Chain & Bar Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Chain Sharpening: Use round file (5/32") and file guide. Maintain 30° cutting angle. Sharpen when saw produces fine dust instead of chips.
  2. Chain Tension: Check frequently when hot and cold. Proper tension: snug against bar but pullable by hand.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove, flip bar monthly for even wear, check for wear and straightness.
  4. Oiler Check: Ensure oiler port is clear; adjust flow rate if equipped.

Tip: Keep chain out of dirt and sand to prolong sharpness.

Engine Maintenance

Follow maintenance schedule for reliable operation.

IntervalTask
DailyCheck air filter, clean if dirty
10 hoursClean spark arrestor screen
20 hoursReplace spark plug (NGK BPMR7A)
50 hoursClean carburetor air intake, check fuel filter
SeasonallyClean cooling fins, check all fasteners

CAUTION! Disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Storage

Prepare chainsaw for storage if not used for 30+ days.

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops to empty carburetor.
  2. Remove spark plug, add 1 teaspoon of oil through spark plug hole, pull starter cord slowly to distribute, reinstall plug.
  3. Clean entire saw, remove debris from cooling fins.
  4. Loosen chain tension, store in dry place.

WARNING! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods; fuel can degrade and damage components.
