Safety Information

Read all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, long pants, and sturdy boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Before Starting: Check chain tension and sharpness. Ensure bar and chain are properly lubricated.
  4. During Use: Hold saw firmly with both hands. Do not overreach. Be aware of kickback.
  5. After Use: Engage chain brake. Remove battery before performing any maintenance.

WARNING! Kickback can cause serious injury. Keep nose of bar away from objects. Never operate with one hand.

Assembly & Installation

Unpack all parts. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach the Guide Bar and Chain: Place bar cover over bar mount. Position chain on bar with cutting edges facing forward. Fit bar onto mounting studs, ensuring chain engages with drive sprocket.
  2. Tension the Chain: Use the tool-free tensioning knob to adjust until chain fits snugly against the bar but can be pulled around by hand. Tighten bar nuts securely.
  3. Fill Oil Reservoir: Use only bar and chain oil. Fill reservoir to the marked line.
  4. Install Battery: Insert fully charged battery until it clicks into place.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly tensioned and oiled before first use to prevent damage and injury.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Body: Front Hand Guard / Chain Brake, Rear Handle with Trigger, Battery Release Button, Oil Filler Cap, Tensioning Knob.

Operation Controls: Safety Trigger Lock (must be depressed before pulling trigger), Main Power Trigger, Chain Brake Lever (forward to engage, pull back towards handle to disengage).

Battery: LED charge indicator (press button to check), Release latches.

Operation

Starting and using the chainsaw safely.

  1. Pre-Operation Check: Verify chain tension, oil level, and battery charge. Clear work area.
  2. Starting: Depress safety lockout button with your right thumb. Squeeze the trigger. The chain will begin to move.
  3. Cutting: Let the chain reach full speed before contacting wood. Use steady, controlled pressure. Do not force the saw.
  4. Stopping: Release the trigger. The chain will stop. Engage the chain brake for added safety when not making a cut.
  5. Kickback Prevention: Do not let the nose (tip) of the bar contact any object. Be especially cautious when cutting near wire fences or nails.

Tip: Plan your cut so your body is never in line with the cutting bar.

Chain Maintenance

Proper chain care ensures performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use a round file matching the chain's pitch. File each cutter at the original angle. File all cutters to the same length.
  2. Tensioning: Chain stretches with use. Check tension frequently, especially when new. Adjust with tensioning knob when chain is cool and battery is removed.
  3. Lubrication: Check oil level before each use. Refill with clean bar and chain oil. Run saw periodically without cutting to distribute oil along the bar.
  4. Inspection: Regularly inspect for damaged, loose, or worn parts (chain, bar, sprocket). Replace if necessary.

WARNING! Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance. Wear heavy gloves when handling the chain.

Battery & Charging

Use only Craftsman 19.2V batteries and charger.

  1. Charging: Plug charger into outlet. Insert battery. Charging indicator will light. A full charge typically takes 60 minutes or less.
  2. Storage: Store battery in a cool, dry place away from metal objects. For long-term storage, charge to about 50%.
  3. Disposal: Do not dispose of in fire or ordinary trash. Recycle at an authorized center.

CAUTION! Do not charge a hot battery. Allow it to cool to room temperature first.

Storage

Clean saw thoroughly before storage. Empty oil reservoir or use stable oil. Remove battery. Store in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Store chain saw with the chain brake engaged. Use bar cover.
