Safety Instructions

Read and understand all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety helmet, hearing protection, eye protection (goggles/visor), protective gloves, chainsaw protective trousers, and sturdy boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 meters away. Ensure secure footing. Do not operate in poor weather or visibility.
  3. Kickback Zone: Be aware of the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip. Never cut with this part of the bar.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel outdoors, with engine off and cool. Use clean, approved fuel mix. Wipe off spills.

WARNING! Kickback can cause severe injury or death. Always hold saw firmly with both hands. Never operate above shoulder height.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar on mounting studs. Loop chain over bar, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top. Adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Use correct gasoline/oil mixture (e.g., 50:1 for 2-stroke engines). Use Husqvarna XP® or equivalent 2-stroke oil.
  3. Fill Chain Oil Tank: Use special chain oil (not waste oil). Check oiler function.
  4. Check Chain Tension: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand. Re-tension after initial use.

CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is disengaged (pulled back toward front handle) before starting.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Front Handle: Contains throttle trigger, safety trigger, and chain brake lever. Rear Handle: Contains start/stop switch and choke control.

Main Controls: On/Stop Switch, Choke Control, Throttle Trigger Lockout, Chain Brake Lever (Front), Decompression Valve (on some models), Primer Bulb (on some models).

Operation: To start, set chain brake, engage choke, pull starter cord. To operate, disengage chain brake, press throttle lockout and squeeze throttle. To stop, release throttle and move stop switch to "0".

Starting & Operation

Cold Start Procedure:

  1. Place saw on firm, flat ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Activate decompression valve (if equipped).
  3. Set choke control to full choke. Press primer bulb 4-6 times (if equipped).
  4. Hold front handle with left hand, place right foot in rear handle. Pull starter handle sharply until engine fires.
  5. Move choke control to half-throttle position. Pull starter handle again until engine starts.
  6. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Tip: Warm Start: Do not use choke. Set stop switch to start position and pull cord.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Daily maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Air Filter: Clean daily in dusty conditions. Remove, tap clean, or wash in warm soapy water. Dry completely before reinstalling.
  2. Spark Plug: Check and clean electrode gap (typically 0.5 mm / 0.020"). Replace if worn.
  3. Fuel Filter: Replace annually or if clogged.
  4. Chain Oil System: Check oil flow by running saw at idle over light-colored surface; look for oil line.
  5. Guide Bar: Clean bar groove and oil holes. Turn bar regularly for even wear.
  6. Cooling Fins: Keep cylinder cooling fins clean for proper heat dissipation.

WARNING! Perform all maintenance with engine off, spark plug wire disconnected, and chain brake engaged.

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

A sharp, properly tensioned chain is essential for safety and performance.

  1. Sharpening: Use correct round file size for chain (e.g., 4.0mm, 4.8mm). File each cutter at original angle (typically 30°). Maintain equal length on all cutters. File depth gauges with flat file and gauge.
  2. Tensioning: Loosen bar nuts. Adjust tensioning screw until chain is snug against bar but can be pulled around by hand. Tighten bar nuts. Re-check tension after 1 minute of operation.

CAUTION! Never operate with a loose or dull chain. It increases risk of kickback and wear.

Storage Guidelines

For storage longer than 30 days:

  1. Empty fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Empty chain oil tank.
  3. Remove chain, clean in solvent, dry, and soak in oil. Clean guide bar.
  4. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  5. Store in a cool, dry place, protected from dust and moisture.

CAUTION! Fuel left in tank can degrade and damage fuel system components.
