Safety Information

Read all instructions before use. Wear appropriate safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, long pants, and sturdy boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders, children, and pets at a safe distance. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Tool Inspection: Before each use, inspect the chainsaw for damage, loose parts, and proper chain tension.
  4. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone; do not let the bar nose contact any object.

WARNING! This is an electric tool. Do not use in rain or wet conditions. Do not modify the tool. Keep hands away from the cutting area and moving chain.

Assembly & Initial Setup

Unpack all parts. Assemble before first use.

  1. Attach the Guide Bar and Chain: Place the chain over the bar, aligning drive links with bar groove. Fit the bar onto the saw's mounting studs, ensuring the chain is correctly positioned around the drive sprocket.
  2. Tension the Chain: Use the tool-free tensioning knob. Turn clockwise to tighten until the chain snaps back when pulled from the bar. Do not over-tighten.
  3. Install the Battery: Insert the charged 18V battery pack into the handle until it clicks securely.
  4. Fill the Oil Reservoir: Use only recommended bar and chain oil. Fill the reservoir located near the battery compartment.

CAUTION! Ensure the chainsaw is powered OFF and the battery is removed during assembly.

  5. Stopping: Release the trigger. The chain will stop immediately. Engage the safety lock.
  6. After Use: Remove the battery. Clean the saw. Apply the bar cover for storage.

Tip: Periodically check chain tension during extended use, as a new chain may stretch.

Chain Maintenance & Sharpening

A sharp, properly tensioned chain is essential for safe and efficient operation.

  1. Tension Check: Chain should be snug against the bar but pull freely by hand. Adjust with tensioning knob when the saw is cool.
  2. Sharpening: Use a round file and file guide matching your chain's pitch. File each cutter at the manufacturer's specified angle. File all cutters to the same length.
  3. Chain Replacement: Replace the chain when cutters are worn down, damaged, or after repeated sharpening. Use only chains specified for your model.
  4. Bar Maintenance: Regularly clean the bar groove and oil holes. Flip the bar periodically for even wear.

WARNING! Always wear heavy gloves when handling the chain. Ensure the battery is removed.

Battery Care & Charging

Use only Black+Decker 18V lithium-ion batteries and chargers.

  1. Charging: Insert battery into charger. Plug charger into standard 120V outlet. Charger LED will indicate status (flashing=charging, solid=complete).
  2. Storage: Store battery at room temperature. For long-term storage, charge to about 50% capacity.
  3. Disposal: Do not dispose of in fire or regular trash. Recycle according to local regulations.

CAUTION! Do not charge a damaged or wet battery. Do not expose battery to fire or extreme heat.

Cleaning & Storage

Unplug charger and remove battery before cleaning.

Wipe the exterior with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Clean sawdust from the air vents, bar, chain, and oil ports using a brush or compressed air. Empty the oil reservoir if storing for an extended period. Store in a dry, locked place out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Do not use solvents or immerse any part in water.
