Safety Information

Read all instructions before operation. Always wear proper safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed boots, and chainsaw chaps.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of obstacles and bystanders; ensure secure footing.
  3. Kickback Awareness: Hold saw firmly with both hands; avoid contact with bar tip.
  4. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool.
  5. Transport Safety: Engage chain brake and use scabbard when carrying.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Keep hands away from moving chain.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all components. Assemble on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Attach Guide Bar and Chain: Place bar on mounting studs, loop chain around sprocket and bar groove, adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Mix unleaded gasoline with 2-stroke oil (50:1 ratio). Do not use automotive oil.
  3. Fill Chain Oil Tank: Use recommended bar and chain oil.
  4. Check Chain Tension: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely by hand.
  5. Test Safety Features: Verify chain brake and throttle lock function properly.

CAUTION! Ensure all fasteners are tightened securely before starting engine.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Controls: Front Handle with Throttle Trigger, Rear Handle, Chain Brake Lever, Throttle Lockout, Choke Control, Stop Switch, and Decompression Valve (if equipped).

Component Locations: Fuel Cap, Oil Cap, Air Filter Cover, Spark Plug, Muffler, Chain Tensioner, and Bar Nut.

Operation: Pull choke for cold start, engage throttle lockout before pulling trigger, push chain brake forward to engage safety stop. Maintenance: Regular cleaning of air filter, checking spark plug, sharpening chain, and adjusting tension.

Operation Guide

Starting Procedure: Place on ground, engage chain brake, set choke, pull starter cord.

  1. Cold Start: Set choke to full, pull starter 3-4 times until engine fires, move choke to half, pull until starts, then open choke.
  2. Warm Start: Choke off, pull starter cord.
  3. Cutting Technique: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, grip handles firmly, let saw do the work without forcing.
  4. Kickback Prevention: Maintain secure grip, be aware of bar tip contact, use reduced-kickback chain.
  5. Shutting Down: Release throttle, engage chain brake, press stop switch.

Tip: Never operate chainsaw above shoulder height or with one hand.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Daily: Clean air filter, check chain tension and sharpness, inspect bar for wear.
  2. Weekly: Clean cooling fins, check spark plug condition, clean fuel filter.
  3. Monthly: Clean carburetor air intake, check all nuts and bolts for tightness.
  4. Seasonal: Replace spark plug, clean exhaust port and spark arrestor.
  5. Annual: Professional servicing recommended for carburetor adjustment and engine inspection.

WARNING! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance. Allow engine to cool completely.

Chain Sharpening & Replacement

Sharp chain improves cutting efficiency and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 5/32" or 4.0mm). Maintain 30° filing angle.
  2. Depth Gauge Setting: File depth gauges to 0.025" below cutter height using depth gauge tool.
  3. Replacement: Replace chain when cutters are worn to 50% of original height or damaged.
  4. Bar Maintenance: Rotate bar regularly to ensure even wear; file bar rails if grooved.
  5. Sprocket Inspection: Replace drive sprocket if worn or damaged.

CAUTION! Wear heavy gloves when handling chain. Ensure proper chain direction during installation.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Short-term (under 30 days): Fill fuel tank to prevent condensation.
  2. Long-term: Drain fuel completely or add fuel stabilizer. Run engine to distribute stabilized fuel through system.
  3. Chain Care: Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil, store separately.
  4. General: Clean entire saw, store in dry place, cover to prevent dust accumulation.
  5. Battery (if electric start): Remove and store battery in cool, dry place.

CAUTION! Store fuel in approved containers away from heat sources and living areas.
