Safety Information

Read all instructions before use. Always wear appropriate PPE.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
  2. Clear Work Area: Ensure no bystanders, especially children or pets, are within 15 feet.
  3. Inspect Chainsaw: Check for loose parts, chain sharpness, and proper tension before each use.
  4. Secure Workpiece: Never hold with one hand; always secure material to be cut.
  5. Kickback Awareness: Be aware of the tip; do not let it contact objects.

WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous tools. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never operate when tired or under the influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Assemble the guide bar, chain, and handle before first use.

  1. Attach Guide Bar & Chain: Place bar over studs, loop chain around sprocket and bar groove, ensure cutting teeth face forward on top.
  2. Tension Chain: Adjust side tensioner until chain fits snugly against bar but can be pulled by hand.
  3. Fill Fuel: Use fresh 50:1 petrol/oil mix (2-stroke oil). Do not use old or ethanol-blended fuel if possible.
  4. Fill Bar & Chain Oil: Use proper chainsaw bar oil. Check oiler flow.
  5. Check Controls: Ensure throttle trigger, throttle lockout, and chain brake function correctly.

CAUTION! Always perform assembly on a stable surface with the engine off and spark plug disconnected.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Main Components: Front handle with chain brake, rear handle with throttle trigger, carburetor adjustment screws, choke lever, decompression valve, and ON/OFF switch.

Controls: Throttle Trigger, Throttle Lockout (must be pressed to engage throttle), Chain Brake Lever (forward to engage, pull back towards handle to disengage), Choke Lever (for cold starts), Decompression Valve (press before starting), ON/OFF Switch.

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, spark plug, chain tensioner, oil filler cap, fuel filler cap.

Starting & Operating

Starting Procedure (Cold Engine):

  1. Place on flat, clear ground. Engage chain brake.
  2. Press decompression valve.
  3. Move ON/OFF switch to ON (I) position.
  4. Set choke lever to FULL CHOKE position.
  5. Pump primer bulb 5-7 times (if equipped).
  6. Place foot in rear handle, hold front handle firmly, pull starter cord sharply until engine 'pops'.
  7. Move choke lever to HALF CHOKE position.
  8. Pull starter cord again until engine starts. Let run for 10 seconds on half choke.
  9. Move choke to RUN position. Disengage chain brake before cutting.

Operating Tips: Use full throttle when cutting. Let chain do the work; do not force. Be aware of pinch points and kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip).

Chain Maintenance

Proper chain care is essential for safety and performance.

  1. Sharpening: Use correct round file size (typically 4.0mm or 5/32"). Maintain original filing angle (usually 30°). File all cutters to equal length.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against bar but pull freely. Re-tension when chain sags (check frequently when new). Always tension with engine off and cool.
  3. Lubrication: Always use proper bar and chain oil. Check oil flow by running saw at idle pointed at a light surface; a line of oil should appear.
  4. Inspection: Check for damaged, loose, or worn drive links, tie straps, and cutters. Replace damaged chain immediately.

WARNING! Always wear heavy gloves when handling chain. A dull chain is dangerous and increases kickback risk.

Engine Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures long engine life.

Storage

Prepare chainsaw for storage to prevent damage.

  1. Empty fuel tank completely by running engine until it stops.
  2. Remove chain, clean bar groove and oil holes. Coat bar and chain with oil to prevent rust.
  3. Clean entire saw of dirt, sawdust, and resin.
  4. Store in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.

CAUTION! Never store with fuel in the tank for long periods. Old fuel will gum up the carburetor.

Regulatory Information

This product complies with relevant machinery and emission directives. The saw incorporates safety features meeting applicable standards. Baumr AG is a registered trademark.
