Safety Instructions
Read all instructions before use. Always wear protective equipment.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toe boots.
- Work Area Safety: Clear area of bystanders, especially children. Ensure secure footing.
- Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use fresh fuel mix.
- Kickback Awareness: Be aware of kickback zone (upper quadrant of bar tip).
- Never operate above shoulder height or on a ladder.
WARNING! Chainsaws are dangerous. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.
Assembly & Preparation
Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires attaching bar and chain, filling fluids.
- Attach Handle: Secure rear handle with provided bolts if not pre-assembled.
- Install Bar & Chain: Place bar over studs, loop chain around sprocket and bar with cutting teeth facing forward. Adjust tension.
- Fuel Mix: Use fresh unleaded petrol (min 90 octane) mixed with 2-stroke oil at 25:1 ratio (40ml oil per 1L petrol).
- Fill Tanks: Add fuel mix to fuel tank. Add bar and chain oil to oil tank.
- Check Chain Tension: Chain should be snug but pull freely around bar.
CAUTION! Ensure chain brake is engaged during assembly. Wear gloves when handling chain.

Controls and Components
Main components: Front handle with hand guard, rear handle with throttle trigger, choke lever, stop switch, chain brake lever, side-access chain tensioner, fuel cap, oil cap.
Controls: Throttle trigger (with safety lock), choke lever (positions: RUN, START, CHOKE), stop switch (O=OFF, I=ON), chain brake lever (forward=engaged, backward=disengaged), primer bulb, decompression valve (if equipped).
Chain tensioning: Use combination wrench to loosen bar nuts, adjust tension screw, retighten nuts.
Starting & Stopping
Starting procedure for cold and warm engine.
- Pre-Start Check: Ensure chain brake is engaged. Clear area. Check fuel and oil.
- Cold Start: Set choke to CHOKE. Press primer bulb 5-6 times. Pull starter cord sharply until engine fires. Move choke to START. Pull starter again to start. Allow to idle briefly.
- Warm Start: Choke in RUN position. Pull starter cord.
- Stopping: Release throttle, allow to idle briefly. Press stop switch to OFF.
Tip: Never drop-start or start with chain brake disengaged.
Operating Instructions
Proper cutting techniques for safety and efficiency.
- Grip: Hold firmly with both hands, right on rear handle, left on front handle.
- Stance: Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
- Basic Cuts: Use lower part of bar for cutting. Let chain do the work; don't force.
- Kickback Prevention: Avoid contact with bar tip. Be aware of pinch points.
- Chain Oiling: Automatic oiler works when engine runs. Check oil flow regularly.
- After Use: Allow engine to cool before storage.
WARNING! Always disengage chain brake before cutting. Watch for falling branches.
Maintenance & Cleaning
Regular maintenance ensures longevity and safety.
- Daily: Clean air filter, check chain tension and sharpness, clean saw of debris.
- Weekly: Clean spark arrestor screen, check all bolts and fasteners.
- Monthly: Clean cooling fins, check fuel filter, replace spark plug if needed.
- Chain Oiler: Test by running at full throttle against light-colored surface; look for oil line.
CAUTION! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.
Chain Sharpening & Replacement
Sharp chain is essential for safe operation.
- Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (5/32" for 3/8" pitch). File at 30° angle. File all cutters to equal length.
- Depth Gauges: Use flat file to lower depth gauges after several sharpenings.
- Replacement: Replace chain when cutters are worn below 4mm, or if damaged.
- Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove regularly. Flip bar monthly for even wear.
Note: Dull chain causes kickback and excessive wear.
Storage
Proper storage prevents fuel system issues.
- Short-term (under 30 days): Drain fuel tank, run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
- Long-term: Drain all fuel. Remove spark plug, add teaspoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly to coat. Store in dry place.
- Chain: Remove, clean, and soak in oil before storage.
WARNING! Never store with fuel in tank for extended periods.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
| Engine won't start | No spark, old fuel, flooded | Check spark plug; use fresh fuel mix; wait if flooded. |
| Engine starts then dies | Clogged fuel filter, air filter | Clean/replace fuel filter; clean air filter. |
| Chain doesn't turn | Chain brake engaged, clutch worn | Disengage chain brake; inspect clutch. |
| Chain throws oil | Over-oiling, wrong oil viscosity | Adjust oiler; use proper bar and chain oil. |
| Excessive vibration | Loose components, unbalanced chain | Tighten all bolts; sharpen chain evenly. |
| Poor cutting performance | Dull chain, incorrect tension | Sharpen chain; adjust tension. |
