Operation Guide

Basic cutting techniques for safe and effective use.

  1. Starting Cut: Hold saw firmly. Let chain reach full speed before contacting wood.
  2. Limbing: Cut branches from bottom side of fallen tree. Watch for spring-back.
  3. Bucking (cutting logs): Support log off ground. Cut from top down. Avoid contact with dirt.
  4. Pruning: Make undercut first, then top cut to prevent bark tearing.
  5. Kickback Prevention: Always grip with thumbs wrapped around handles. Do not cut above shoulder height.

Tip: Allow the saw to do the work; do not force it. Keep chain sharp and properly tensioned.

Chain Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Sharpening: Use a round file and file guide. Maintain correct filing angle (typically 30°). File all cutters to equal length.
  2. Tensioning: Chain should be snug but pull freely. Re-tension when chain sags or after sharpening.
  3. Oiling: Check oil level before each use. Ensure oil port on bar is clear. Use only bar and chain oil.
  4. Inspection: Regularly check for loose nuts, worn sprocket, damaged bar rails, and cracked chain links.

WARNING! Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance. Wear heavy gloves when handling chain.

Cleaning & Storage

Unplug and allow to cool before cleaning. Wipe exterior with dry cloth. Clean bar groove and oil ports.

Storage: Empty oil tank or turn saw on its side to prevent leaks. Store in a dry, locked place out of reach of children. Cover bar and chain to prevent rust.

CAUTION! Do not use water or solvents to clean motor housing. Never store with fuel (if applicable) in tank.
