Safety Instructions

Read and understand all instructions before operation.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chainsaw chaps, safety glasses, hearing protection, helmet, and gloves.
  2. Work Area Safety: Keep bystanders and pets at least 15 feet away. Ensure secure footing.
  3. Fuel Safety: Refuel in well-ventilated area with engine off and cool. Use fuel mix precisely (50:1).
  4. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with upper quadrant of bar tip. Use reduced-kickback chain.
  5. Chain Brake: Test function before each use.

WARNING! Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death. Never operate a chainsaw when fatigued or under the influence.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble bar and chain.

  1. Attach guide bar: Place bar over studs, align chain with sprocket, fit chain around bar.
  2. Install clutch cover: Position over studs, ensure chain sits correctly in bar groove.
  3. Tension chain: Use side tensioner to adjust until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  4. Fill fuel: Use Husqvarna XP 2-stroke oil mixed with 89+ octane gasoline (50:1 ratio).
  5. Fill chain oil: Use quality bar and chain oil in separate tank.

CAUTION! Ensure chain is properly tensioned—too tight causes damage, too loose can derail.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Front Handle: Throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, choke/stop control. Rear Handle: Master control lever (combined choke/stop), decompression valve, primer bulb, start/stop switch.

Right Side: Chain brake handle, inertia activated. Left Side: Side-mounted chain tensioner, oil filler cap. Top: Air filter cover, spark plug, fuel filler cap.

Chain Brake: Engage manually by pushing handle forward; automatically via inertia. Decompression Valve: Reduces compression for easier starting. Throttle Lockout: Must be pressed to engage throttle.

Starting & Operation

Cold Start: Place on flat ground, engage chain brake.

  1. Activate decompression valve (if equipped).
  2. Set master control lever to choke position.
  3. Press primer bulb 4-6 times until fuel is visible.
  4. Pull starter cord sharply until engine fires (approx. 3-5 pulls).
  5. Move master control lever to half-throttle position.
  6. Pull starter cord again until engine starts.
  7. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.

Warm Start: Master control lever in run position, no choke needed.

Operation: Disengage chain brake before cutting. Use proper cutting techniques—let saw do the work. Maintain firm grip with both hands.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
DailyCheck chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication; Clean air filter; Inspect bar for wear
WeeklyClean cooling fins; Check spark plug condition; Clean fuel filter
MonthlyInspect anti-vibration elements; Check clutch and sprocket; Clean carburetor air intake
SeasonallyReplace spark plug; Clean fuel tank; Check all nuts and bolts
AnnuallyProfessional servicing recommended

Chain & Bar Care

Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (typically 5.5 mm). Maintain correct filing angle (30°). Depth gauges must be filed to correct height (0.025" below cutter).

Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove regularly. Flip bar weekly for even wear. Dress bar rails with flat file if burred.

Chain Tension: Correct when snug against bar but can be rotated by hand. Re-tension when chain sags from bottom of bar.

Fuel & Lubrication

Fuel Mix: 50:1 ratio. Use 89+ octane gasoline and Husqvarna XP 2-stroke oil. Mix in approved container, not in saw tank.

Chain Oil: Use quality bar and chain oil. Check flow by pointing bar at light surface and running at full throttle—oil should appear as line.

Storage: For storage over 30 days, drain fuel tank and run carburetor dry. Store in dry, cool place.

WARNING! Never use straight gasoline or automotive motor oil. Never use recycled oil for chain lubrication.

Storage

Long-term storage procedure:

  1. Clean entire saw thoroughly.
  2. Drain fuel tank and run engine until carburetor is dry.
  3. Remove chain, clean and soak in oil. Store separately.
  4. Clean bar groove and oil bar.
  5. Remove spark plug, add teaspoon of oil to cylinder, pull starter slowly to distribute.
  6. Store in dry, frost-free location, covered.
