Safety Instructions

Always wear proper safety equipment and follow safe operating procedures.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of obstacles, ensure secure footing, keep bystanders at least 15 feet away.
  3. Pre-Operation Check: Verify chain tension, sharpness, lubrication, and all fasteners are tight.
  4. Safe Handling: Hold with both hands, maintain proper balance, never operate above shoulder height.

WARNING! Chainsaw kickback can cause serious injury. Always use proper grip and cutting techniques. Never operate when tired or under influence of drugs/alcohol.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect all components before assembly.

  1. Attach Guide Bar and Chain: Place bar on mounting studs, fit chain around sprocket and bar, adjust tension.
  2. Fill Fuel Tank: Mix gasoline with 2-stroke oil at 50:1 ratio (87 octane minimum).
  3. Fill Chain Oil Tank: Use quality bar and chain oil (not used motor oil).
  4. Check Controls: Verify throttle trigger, throttle lockout, chain brake, and stop switch function properly.

CAUTION! Fuel is flammable. Refuel in well-ventilated area away from ignition sources. Allow engine to cool before refueling.

Specifications

Controls and Functions

Main controls located on top and rear handle. Front Handle: Chain brake lever, throttle lockout. Rear Handle: Throttle trigger, stop switch, choke control, primer bulb.

Chain Brake: Manual activation via front hand guard; automatic activation via inertia. Throttle Lockout: Must be depressed before throttle can be engaged. Decompression Valve: Reduces cylinder pressure for easier starting. Choke Control: Enriches fuel mixture for cold starts.

Starting the Chainsaw

Follow proper starting procedure to avoid injury and engine damage.

  1. Place on flat, clear surface with chain not touching anything.
  2. Engage chain brake by pushing hand guard forward.
  3. Set choke to full position (cold engine) or half position (warm engine).
  4. Press primer bulb 5-6 times until fuel is visible.
  5. Hold rear handle with right hand, place left foot through front handle.
  6. Pull starter rope briskly until engine fires (1-3 pulls).
  7. Move choke to run position and pull starter rope to start.
  8. Allow 30-second warm-up at idle before cutting.

Tip: If engine floods, move choke to run position and pull starter rope 8-10 times with throttle fully open.

Operating Procedures

Proper cutting techniques ensure safety and efficiency.

  1. Basic Cutting: Use lower quadrant of bar nose to avoid kickback. Let chain do the work without forcing.
  2. Felling Trees: Plan escape path, make notch cut 1/3 of tree diameter, make felling cut 2 inches above notch.
  3. Limbing: Work from trunk to tips, keep trunk between you and chain, cut downward on top of log.
  4. Bucking: Support log properly, cut from top down, use plastic or wooden wedges for binding cuts.
  5. Kickback Prevention: Maintain firm grip, don't cut with bar tip, keep chain sharp and properly tensioned.

WARNING! Never cut with upper quadrant of bar nose. Always be prepared for kickback reaction.

Maintenance Schedule

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

IntervalMaintenance Task
Daily/Before UseCheck chain tension, sharpness, lubrication; inspect all fasteners
Every 10 HoursClean air filter, check spark plug, clean cooling fins
Every 20 HoursClean fuel filter, check carburetor adjustment
Every 50 HoursReplace spark plug, clean exhaust screen, check anti-vibration elements
Every 100 HoursReplace fuel filter, clean carburetor, check clutch and sprocket
SeasonallyDrain fuel system for storage, sharpen drive sprocket

Chain Sharpening & Tensioning

Proper chain maintenance is critical for safe operation.

  1. Chain Tension: Adjust when chain sags from bar rails. Loosen bar nuts, adjust tensioning screw until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  2. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (5/32" for 3/8" chain). File each cutter at 30° angle, maintain consistent depth gauge height.
  3. Depth Gauges: File to 0.025" below cutter edge using depth gauge tool.
  4. Bar Maintenance: Rotate bar regularly, file rails if burred, clean oil holes.

CAUTION! Always wear gloves when handling chain. Ensure chain brake is engaged during maintenance.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Drain fuel tank and run engine until it stops to clear carburetor.
  2. Remove chain, clean in solvent, coat with oil and store separately.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air intake.
  4. Store in dry place, covered to prevent dust accumulation.
  5. For long-term storage, fog engine through spark plug hole.

WARNING! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days. Fuel deterioration can damage carburetor.
