Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before operation. Wear proper safety gear.

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, chainsaw chaps, and steel-toed boots.
  2. Work Area Safety: Clear area of obstacles; ensure secure footing; keep bystanders at least 15 feet away.
  3. Chain Brake: Test chain brake before each use by pushing forward on front hand guard.
  4. Kickback Zone: Avoid contact with upper quadrant of guide bar tip.

WARNING! Chainsaw kickback can cause serious injury or death. Always maintain proper grip and stance.

Assembly & Preparation

Unpack and inspect contents. Assemble guide bar and chain.

  1. Attach guide bar: Place bar on studs, adjust tensioning screw, tighten bar nuts finger-tight.
  2. Install chain: Ensure cutting teeth face forward on top of bar; fit chain over sprocket.
  3. Tension chain: Use combination wrench to adjust tension until chain snaps back when pulled from bar.
  4. Fill fluids: Use Husqvarna 2-stroke oil mixed 50:1 with unleaded gasoline (min 89 octane). Fill chain oil with bar and chain oil.

CAUTION! Never use automotive motor oil or dirty gasoline. Mix fuel in approved container.

Right Side: Throttle trigger, throttle lockout, handle, rear hand guard. Left Side: Stop switch, choke control, primer bulb, decompression valve (if equipped). Front: Chain brake lever, front hand guard, guide bar, chain tensioner.

Maintenance Points: Air filter cover, spark plug, fuel cap, oil cap, chain tensioning screw, bar nuts.

Starting & Stopping

Cold Start Procedure:

  1. Place saw on flat ground, clear of debris.
  2. Activate chain brake by pushing forward on front hand guard.
  3. Press decompression valve (if equipped).
  4. Set stop switch to start position.
  5. Pull choke control fully out.
  6. Press primer bulb 6-8 times until fuel is visible.
  7. Hold front handle with left hand, place right foot in rear handle.
  8. Pull starter handle briskly 2-3 times until engine fires.
  9. Push choke control halfway in.
  10. Pull starter handle until engine starts.
  11. Blip throttle to disengage fast idle.
  12. Release chain brake before cutting.

Stopping: Release throttle, move stop switch to stop position.

Operating Instructions

Proper cutting techniques for safety and efficiency.

  1. Grip: Hold front handle with left hand, rear handle with right hand. Thumb wrapped underneath.
  2. Stance: Feet shoulder-width apart, left foot slightly forward.
  3. Starting Cut: Apply light pressure, let chain do the work.
  4. Bucking: Support log properly; cut from top down for compression side.
  5. Limbing: Stand on left side of trunk; cut downward branches first.
  6. Kickback Prevention: Never cut with upper quadrant of bar tip; maintain chain sharpness.

Tip: Keep chain sharp; a dull chain requires more force and increases kickback risk.

Maintenance Schedule

IntervalTask
Daily/Before UseCheck chain tension, sharpness, brake function, fluids
Every 10 hoursClean air filter, check spark plug
Every 20 hoursClean cooling fins, check fuel filter
Every 50 hoursClean spark arrestor screen, check carburetor settings
Every 100 hoursReplace fuel filter, check all screws and bolts

WARNING! Always disconnect spark plug wire before performing maintenance.

Chain & Bar Care

Proper maintenance extends life of cutting equipment.

  1. Sharpening: Use round file matching chain pitch (.325"). Maintain 30° cutting angle, 10° top plate angle.
  2. Depth Gauges: File down to 0.025 in (0.65 mm) below cutting tooth.
  3. Bar Maintenance: Clean bar groove weekly; flip bar monthly for even wear.
  4. Lubrication: Always run with chain oil; adjust oiler for conditions (more for hardwoods).

CAUTION! Wear gloves when handling chain; cutting teeth are extremely sharp.

Storage Guidelines

Proper storage prevents fuel system damage.

  1. Short-term (under 30 days): Fill fuel tank, add fuel stabilizer, run for 2 minutes.
  2. Long-term: Drain fuel tank completely, run engine until it stops. Remove spark plug, add 1 tbsp of 2-stroke oil through spark plug hole, pull starter 2-3 times, replace plug.
  3. Clean entire saw, especially cooling fins and air filter.
  4. Store in dry place, cover to prevent dust accumulation.

WARNING! Never store with fuel in tank for more than 30 days without stabilizer.
